We like to celebrate International Women’s Day by announcing an investment into a female-founded tech business. This year is no exception and we’re thrilled to confirm that several members of our angel network have just completed an investment in Dressipi.

Founded by Donna North and Sarah McVittie, Dressipi is a SaaS product for fashion retailers to optimise profit and reduce waste. Their fashion-specific personalisation engine ensures that customers only see products they’re likely to buy and keep on a retailer’s website; and their forecasting tool helps retailers order only what they can sell.

Laura Meyer who led the Angel Academe deal team said, “Donna and Sarah have already built a market-leading product and have an impressive client list. We’re really excited to be investing in Dressipi as it scales in the UK and enters the US market.”

Female founded businesses raised only 1% of European venture capital in 2022 according to Atomico’s State of European Tech report, so Donna and Sarah have defied the odds by closing their £3m round.

According to European Women in VC, 91% of European venture capital is controlled by men, so we’re also defying the odds — the majority of our angel investors are women. We’re delighted to join many notable existing angel investors and Venrex on the cap table.

EnterpriseAlumni, featured in last year’s announcement, was the 40th female-founded tech business we’ve backed since our first investment in 2014. Dressipi is our 47th, with several others in our investment pipeline. We’ve also completed lots of follow-on rounds in existing investee businesses in the last year.

More than ever founders need the support of angel investors. c£2bn per year is invested by angel investors each year, making it the largest source of early stage capital in the UK. Women are still a tiny minority, but we’re working hard to change that. Join us.
